Ok....so I did say in my last post I would post new pics for my 3 year locversary, June 11th!! WOOHOO!! My hair has never, and I mean never (cause you know how when you were a little girl your hair was long when straightened right?), has my hair ever been this long.. WOW!! I know I say this every year, but for those who can't wait for their locs to fall, it's coming! No matter how well I took care of my natural loose hair it would have taken forever to reach this length without straightening. I'm one who's hair was 5 inches straightened and barely an inch after being washed...
I really really detest posting individual pics on blogger but I don't have any software that allows me to do collages. So, I decided to save pics using the Kodak Easyshare Gallery site and see how they turn out. My only complaint is it cuts off some of the pics. Please excuse the blurred images but the CD's that have the original pics are packed away....

I have a friend who's been transitioning from the perm to natural. She recently cut off all her permed ends and flat ironed her hair, made me really miss my loose hair and wonder if I would have loc'd if I was introduced to the "Chi" type products. What was I thinking?! I'm so in love with my locs I can't stand it!

What's For Breakfast....?

1) French Toast - I used soymilk, cinnamon, almond extract, and a little flour for the coating. This has become a family favorite!
2) Breakfast Pizza - Had some extra pizza dough laying around. I used marinara sauce, Gimme Lean Sausage, some leftover Morningstar Chik'n Strips and green peppers. Who says you can't have pizza for breakfast?!
3) Breakfast Scramble Burrito - Tofu, red onion, green pepper, and tortilla..NICE!!!
4) Breakfast Scramble Taco - Same as above just added a taco and some taco sauce...

Posts like these give me something to look forward to. Beautiful!!! Happy Locversary!!!
Your hair is stunning!!! But...I tell you now it would have only been a matter of time before you realize the damage and drama that all that heat styling causes! I love my ntural and am anxoius for my three year!!!
Girl, the sisterlocks are working for you! Hair is looking fabulous.
I just hit my one year mark, and was feeling like I should be further along, but, looking at your collage brought back to reality - it is coming! Thx so much for posting, it is inspiring.
Happy 3 Years!
Your locks have grown so much. We have something in common, I don't think my hair would have ever been as long as it is today without locking.
Your locks are beautiful! We have truly coming a long way, I still can't believe it has been three years already.
Your food pics make me drool, I can eat some french toast right about now, lol
I know these 3 years have really tought us alot and we have learned so much about our hair, I wonder what the next 3 years will be like.
Love the comparison shots! By the way I used Picasa, it's free you can Google Picasa3 and download the software. It will automatically copy all the photos that's on your computer and you can start collaging or making slideshows or what ever yhou like with your photos. HTH
Take Care
BEAUTIFUL! I love the collages and your hair is amazing! Congrats!
Happy 3rd birthday! You've done a really good job of documenting the growth. It's incredible!
Happy lock anniversary! The length is wow! Your hair is beautiful!
OMG! I love your locks too. And despite what you thought, your hair does grow fast.
Your food always looks super yummy. You should be a nutritionist (selfish I know). I am looking for one in Atlanta and can't find a single body.
Hey mama! Your hair does indeed look beautiful. Can't wait to get there! Woohoo! LoL
Woooow, I am loving the hair shots. And at each stage you look absolutely stunning. Congrats on 3 years! And giiirl, as much as I am enjoying raw food, it is very limited. I mean technically I "can't" eat any of your yummy foods. After this month, I'll just go veg. You're quite the inspiration!
Happy 3 years your locks are slammin'. Your breakfast dishes..tasty nuff said!

Au N> The length will hit you before you know it!!!
Sereni-T> Thanks!
Chloe> I know....just a slight moment of weakness, hehe! I remember all the heat I used on my hair back in the day and it wasn't pretty..
Sheel> Thanks! Happy locversary to you too!!!
Brown> I never, in a million years, thought my hair would ever reach this length.... And you know the length sneaks up on you cause after the first year or two you're not as focused on your loc progress...you know?
You want to know what's funny...I've really been thinking about cutting my hair. After dreaming about my hair being past my shoulder all I can think about is chopping it off. I'm going to wait until Winter to see if it's what I really want to do though..
Thanks for letting me know about Picasa3!
Cluizel, Coop, & Cashana> Thanks!
Sophia> Thanks! I remember, way back when, I was thinking of becoming a nutritionist and was discouraged by all the schooling required, at the time I was 22. I really wish I would have gone back to school cause I would have been finished by now but....c'est la vie... I'm still trying to figure out what I want to be when I grow up...hehe!
When I finally get my arse to Atlanta I will be happy to cook some meals for you. I've really been thinking hard about writing my own cookbook...and may need some testers...
MsNana, Chinue, & PhePhi> Thanks!
B> Thanks! I know what you mean about the raw food...it's hard in general, but especially when you're busy, and salads get boring quickly. I bow down to you for going raw for so long...
Still> Thanks!
Great comparison shots! I am always amazed at how long hair grows in such a short time.
It's about time I updated my blog... :)
Nice, Very Nice! :)
I don't log-in often, so I had to stop by. I have a separate blog {new post has album-link} for my crochet/knit items.
Now I gotta go! your food is making a sista hungry! lol
Take Care~

Boy did I get a good chuckle after reading your post. I can so relate to your hair length when wet. But, boy do your locks look beautiful, and have grown much. You wear them well. Congratulations on 3 years of locked fun.
Beautiful pics. The growth is amazing! Healthy hair is good hair :)
Sunsail> Thanks! I'll be looking out for your update!!

Aya & Moosiko> Thanks!!
Happy loc-versary... My sister is always reminding my father that her "hair has never been this long"...lol!!!
Be blessed~
Yay! Congrats on your 3 year anniversary. Those Morningstar chicken strips look yummy... I think I'll pick some of those up this weekend. Have you tried the House Foods Shirataki noodles? They were, interesting. I'm reserving final judgment until I try them again lol.
Off topic but, I just took over as team leader of the SparkOrlando team (on SparkPeople.com) and am hosting a SparkRally on June 27th. We'll be meeting at the clock tower at Cranes Roost Park starting at AM and we'll be doing a 3 mile walk. I'd love to have you come out if you can make it :)
Don't you just love Sisterlocks! You wear them well Miss Lady! I agree with you. Sisterlocks really grows your hair. Your hair is so beautiful! Love it, love it, love it!!!!

I will email you with questions regarding the walk...thanks for inviting me!!!
Napptown> Thanks!! LOL!! Don't worry about the double comment... I love comments even if they're duplicates..hehe!
Wow your hair looks great! I can't wait for my hair to get to that length. Styling possibilities are endless. How long have you been a vegan? Do you eat dairy products or are you a total vegan.. I read they are variety of vegan possiblilites... I notice you bake alot so do you use eggs etc... Food does look good but is it hard to prepare and I wonder if my kids will like it.
Penny> Thanks! All the styling possiblities and I'm still at a loss....I just love to freestyle...
I've been vegan for over 4 years...I think...ha! The only animal by-product I do eat is honey, so no dairy for me. I'm also lactose intolerant and dairy has never worked well with my system.
As far as baking goes...I do not use eggs. There are so many egg substitutes, depending on what you need them for, it's not even funny. For instance, you can use firm or extra-firm tofu to make a quiche or scramble. For baked goods like cookies and cakes you can use milled flaxseed & water, Ener-G Egg Replacer, silken tofu, bananas, apple sauce and so much more stuff.
I won't deny in the beginning it was cumbersome. I mean, sometimes you just want to come home and stick something in the microwave. Even though there are some companies who make microwavable meals I'm always weary of the sodium content...you know? Amy's has the best I've found thus far. Once I had my pantry stocked with all my vegan staples I was good to go....
You know what? I think I may do a post on my favorite vegan goodies....Thanks for the inspiration!!!!!!
wow! next thing you know you may have more than you want. nice problem, huh?
Thanks for answering my question..Maybe you could do a post of the staples that one should start off with..The thought of Tofu ???? I have tried the morning star products and they are very good. Just dont know what to do with it. I guess I wanna be a 30 minute vegan..You should open a restuarant because the presentations looks that good. Well have a good day!
Hey MM! You have quite a following. People are commenting like mad on your blog.
Happy Belated lock-versary!
You are looking Mah-velous!
The LWC returns:
I was talking 'bout you on my blog the other day. Not by name. And not individually, but folks like you.
In regards to length and growth.
I started with longer hair than you did and I expected greater overall length at different points along the way.
Nope. It just does what it does. My hair is about the same length yours was approximately a year ago.
As for the straightening...I used to flat iron my hair with the 'healthy' heat. It was easier and gentler than a pressing comb.
And it lasted longer and made my hair 'silky smoove' and light and fluffy and wind-machine ready.
But it was STILL damaging and the styles did not hold up to heat, humidity, dance, exercise, or anything else that made me work up a sweat, so for convenience and staying power the lcoks still can't be beat!
I love that I can swim or get caught in the rain or shower and wash my hair just before I have to be somewhere important.
Styling my hair is never a 3 hour project!
Sometimes I do still miss the look of straight, flowing loose hair, but I will never miss the restrictions it used to put on my lifestyle.
It's a funny thing. Some days obsess over my lack of length and other days I want nothing more than to rock a really sassy cut, but I promised myself I would commit to three years of growth before I did anything drastic.
Nine months to go!
New rule! I can never read your blog on an empty stomach. Your food pics always make me desperately hungry! I just ate a good brunch today though(vegetarian - you'd be so proud!), so I'm good!
Guuuurl!!! Your hair looks amazing! I am so proud of you :-) Quick question since I can;t remember, did you ever color your hair at any point?
Black> LOL!!! Thanks!!!! I'm very fortunate to have so many inspirational people following my blog!!
I say give it three years and see what you think. Also remember, that you can cut your locs in any style you like..
This past weekend I saw my friend again, the one who's been straightening her hair, and it wasn't pretty. Since she's so active with dancing and going to the gym she's constantly sweating. Therefore, the style doesn't even last all that long. And the humidity here doesn't help either. Thank goodness for Sisterlocks!!!
Oooohhhh...What did you eat?!
Kwasmrs> Thanks! Nope, never colored it but been thinking about it more and more lately. When I first loc'd my hair was pretty close to jet black, now it's brown and I'm not feelin it...
MM.
Congrats sis, your locks are fabulous, and the food mmmmmm.
Muslimahlocs> LOL!!! I think I may already be there....
Thanks Ja Stu!!!!
Loving your locks girl! it will be 2 years for me in December...now when did the growth spurt come? lol
Free> Thanks!! LOL!!
Even though I saw a good amount of growth when I reached my 2 year mark (cause I did have a nice amount of growth). It seemed I actually "noticed" my loc's length more this past year.
your locks look great!!!
Gives me an idea of what my locks will look like when they mature.
Sandz> Thanks!!!!
