Your thought on my quick wedding style...

Feels like it's been forever since I last blogged, even though it hasn't been a month....haha!

As you guys know I'm the free-style queen.... I will be attending a wedding in a couple days and was wondering if this style looks ok. I didn't want to choose a style that would require alot of pinning or setting my hair the evening before. If I'm bout it bout it I may try out some sponge rollers I purchased a while back. Regardless, I'll make sure I post a pic of the end result. I haven't worn a dress in 6 years....isn't that sad...LOL!!! I'm posting two back shots, one with and one without the flash.

Couple things I plan on doing:

-getting my locks retightened..YES!!!
-I used a headband to tie this up but I
will use a thinner black elastic band so it's not as visible.
-I'm going to try to put the bun higher.
-I will brush back my nappilies on the sides.

What ya think?

The Food....

1) Veggie Wrap w/ Peanut Sauce - cleaned out the fridge of veggies, the peanut sauce was pb, spices, and soy sauce. This was a great snack!
2) Whole Wheat Pasta w/ Marinara Sauce, Tofurky Italian Sausage and Focaccia - This was excellent!!!! I haven't eaten pasta since Thanksgiving so it was a good treat!
3) Sweet Potato Shepherd's Pie - Fat Smash Friendly. This was absolutely amazing! The sweetness of the potato with the savory veggies & crumbles. I'll be making this one again real soon....
4) Baked Fried Eggplant w/ Marinara - YUM!!! The crunch of the crust and the smoothness of the eggplant are perfect!

i think the bun is a good idea...simple, yet elegant. and i think if you can get the bun a little higher it will look great!

I agree the style is simple and elegant. I also think that if you added a flower/or nice clip on the side, would put the icing on the cake!

As usual the food looks great!

I know it's been a while but has your eye fully recovered?

Take Care, V

Yes i also agree. The bun looks lovely & a flower or some hair jewels will tie it off nicely. Or even a lil basket weave @ the front

Khandi is right. The bun with a flower or jewels would be absolutely divine! Exactly where can you get Tofurkey Italian sausage from? I think I'll be taking a trip to Whole Foods after work. And that sweet potato shepherd's pie loooks amziiiiing!

Your face is so pretty, I think something pulled away is ideal like a bun. I also think a ponytail adorned with a nice accessory would be cute.

Au Naturale> Thanks! I think getting it higher shouldn't be a problem since my hair is shorter in the front.

Brown> Thanks! I need to look for some clips today...seeing as how the wedding is Saturday evening...hehe!

My eye is doing fine. I have 20/20 vision and I no longer have headaches. My last Dr. appt showed that my right eye had healed completely..YEAH!! I will be meeting with them again soon...

Khandi> A basket weave?! How would I do that? I've always been horrible with styling hair, not to mention extremely lazy...

B> You can get the sausage at either Whole Foods or Publix (usually in the produce section where all the tofu stuff is).

Sophia> Thanks for the input!!

Ok, so the buns a keeper! I will try to get some hair accessories and will look into basket weaving!

Thank you guys sooooo much!!!!!

The bun looks really good. I agree add some hair clips or a flower. If its easier for you just wear it free style with a flower to the side.

Its lunch time and I'm hungry!!

Hi

this is a vid on how to do a basket weave on your locs. The lady has traditional locs but you can get the idea. Her locs are aslo longer but i've seen the style done on short locs so should work on yours if you decide to do it. She also has many other loc tutorials. http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=BSYwUHrsrpI&feature=related

Seems like all my time on the net wasn't a waste lol

not sure if the previous link worked so I've pasted the other one. Pity it's not a hyperlink but you can cut n paste into your broswer

RMC> Freestyled with a flower sounds awesome!!!!!

Khandi> Thanks!! I saw the tutorial and tried it out..It was ok but required alot of pinning since my hair is short, which I know will lead to a headache after a while... I'm lovin all her tutorials!!!

Khandi said...

Yeah i love her tutorials. I can't wait for some length and i can try them out.

I know you will post pics on whatever you decide to do. Still think a flower or hair jewels would be lovely

in the pre-hijab era, i wore a similar style which i acheived as follows:
pulled hair back in bun, sprayed with water, tied down top.
gathered several loose strands and twisted them to form bantu knots/pin curls
let set overnight
next day, removed pins, styled "loose" hair by twisting and pinning it into the bun.
i was inspired by the hydrangea flowers that the bride used in her bouquet and was trying to emulate the look of the flower with my hair.

can't imagine doing all of that work now but it may work for you. do post pics.

i agree with the rest of the ladies, higher and with hair accessories would set it off. loose curls in the front at the sides might look nice too, but wit your face you don't need hair.

have fun at the wedding!!!

Khandi> I will definitely be posting pics!!!

Muslimahlocs> I'm all about quick styles and I'm sure I'd have to practice for a while to get the style you mentioned. It sounds stunning though....Pics to come...

Diva> Even though it took me all day to find it I think I have a nice hair clip. I'm gonna think on the loose curls in the front though..

Thanks Everyone!!! Stay tuned for the finished look!!!!
